Hey Seela, it's Doug from IUP. Ring a bell? I really like your site and am ordering your CDs.

I can't tell you how cool I think it is that you performed with Ian McLagan. Too bad you couldn't have performed with Ronnie (RIP).

I'm in Seattle now, maybe I'll catch you performing up here some time?

hi seela, just checked out your website and listened to some of you music. it's awesome. i will be seeing you at cedar street on the 8th of Nov.

Deeme - Wednesday, October 26th, 2005 9:11 AM
Hi Seela, I was just at William and Mary Homecoming and the kids there let this ex-dj alum do a radio show at the college station, WCWM 89.1 fm, so of course I had to play a cut from you ("Under The Influence"). I will be in San Antonio over Thanksgiving so I hope I can catch one of your gigs.

Lee Walker - Monday, October 17th, 2005 7:42 PM
Just got back on-line recently so just sent a long email through your site. You, Jon, and Chris helped make Karen and my 36th anniversary extra nice at an early Cedar Street performance. Live music is so fine and you three dished out two lovely sets! We were down for our daughters wedding and stayed a couple of days after which set us up to get to hear you there.

Loved the music, the relaxation and the visit.
Lee

Nichole "nichote" Jenkins - Monday, September 12th, 2005 10:47 PM
Everytime I hear your music it blows me away. It brings back memories of a good friend, good food and especially great music. I didn't think it was possible for your songwriting to get better, but it has!!! I wish you every good thing and more.

Kim Walker - Thursday, September 8th, 2005 1:21 PM
I heard you in Austin sept 6 at Cedar Street. I was blown away. We bought two CDs then and played them all the way back to Mississippi - now I want the others. Keep writing and performing for us - you are something new and wonderful.
Kim

even my lastname goes same... will try to listen to the songs sometime...

Trevor Seela - Tuesday, July 12th, 2005 10:13 AM
I've listened to a few of the songs over my lo-fi dialup connection. In truth, I just searched my last name and this was the first website that popped up (just one of those concieted things I do on boring afternoons). I looked around and fell in love with the music. I've never been down to Texas (I'm stuck up here in Iowa) but you've got fans up here too.

LEE WALKER - Friday, May 20th, 2005 3:42 PM
Dear Seela,
On the last trip my wife and I made to Austin to see our daughter the three of us came to hear you at the Elephant room. I am a jazz fan and you and Torch were just terrific. You have a very special sound that is quite intimate...There is a little touch of air that seems to open up the sound for your personal music. This is hard to describe but it reminds me a little of the very human touch that Stan Getz' breathiness gave to his sax. It is not the same but it has a similar effect...almost like a touch of air through the vocal cords before vibration begins..a sort of opening up. At any rate, it was a delightful evening and you stopped to let me ask a question or two between sets. It is so good to her good music in a space that allows for direct hearing beyond the decisions of a sound board tech as to what someone else's ear determines what is right for the listener. This was real sound...music without a net, and that is real jazz.
I want to get a CD of the songs you and Torch did so splendidly and I think that most of those are on, Before the Night is Over.
I wish we could hear you this trip but I undertand that Torch is in Japan. Someday I would love to buy you a cup of coffee and have you join Karen and me for just a plain old "get to know you" visit. I like free-lance writing and would love to work on a story about you, your sound, Torch and young jazz with sophistication that is such a treat. Keep up the singing, the openess and the writing.
Yours,
Lee Walker

Hi Seela! I finally made it up to your website...cute! We will try to make your CD party on the 15th. Hey, I know a wonderful dentist--Joan Sefcik--you probably already found one by now but in case, she is unbelievable. I've never in my life had fun at the dentist--but she makes me laugh every time. And she's a great dentist! Dula shared your new CD with me--Brad & I both love it.
Hope to see you soon, Barbara

Frank - Monday, December 20th, 2004 2:48 PM
I just wanted to say that I was extremely excited to hear your music last week while being interviewed by the Trinity Jazz Station 91.7. So much so, that I just sat in my car during the entire interview instead of going in to my fitness center! Thanks not only for the chance to hear an incredible voice, but because I was able to put off my workout for a while! I hope to see you perform at Luna's in the near future. Thanks,I'm a new fan.
Frank

Seela, I saw you for the first time recently in D.C. with Matt the Electrician and enjoyed our talk. I was blown away by your voice and presence. Your cd "Hard Times Hit" is powerful and inspired me to write some lyrics again. Lines like "when you comin' home ain't soon enough" are real gems. Thanks.

Nancye - Monday, October 11th, 2004 8:10 PM

While on a trip to Texas from Chicago, a friend and I went to Saxon Pub to catch Bob Schneider March 22nd. I love your voice and hope to be able to catch you again. If you're ever in the Chicago area, let me know. There's a club west of downtown Chicago that I frequent and booked bands. I'd love to help you share your voice.

Das - Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004 6:16 PM
The songs on Hard Times Hit have a way of sneaking up on the listener from behind and almost engulfing him slash her in the debris left over from heartbreak, heartache and acid reflux?? The songs are not as rudely seering as the ones on Something Happened but have a softer, even sweetly melodic feel. The title track lives up to its promise of sardonic melancholy. I'm Coming Over is soothing. I Told Everybody is refreshingly different. But perhaps the best song on this CD is Nothing On You which lives up to its promise of letting the listener "come away with a smile".

marianna - Sunday, March 7th, 2004 7:15 PM
this music is truly otherworldy. reminds me of a place i've never been that sort of feels like home.

you guys rock.

Heard Seela on KUT for first time....needless to say, all work immediately came to a halt during the performance

Spinner - Monday, January 19th, 2004 12:01 PM
Your sister Amy first introduced me to Seela while we were in college together. I feel in love with the CD and have been keeping up with Seela ever since. Your music is very inspirational and have helped me through many tough times. I look forward to when I can actually see you perform in person!

Amy (little sis) - Tuesday, December 30th, 2003 6:57 AM
It seems like a lifetime ago that Huck & Muck songs were reigning my stereo speakers...and now my big sister's voice is. How awesome is that? I love every cd...and am very proud of you. Can you have sweatpants made up with "seela" printed across the butt?

Alicia - Monday, December 29th, 2003 9:02 PM

I'm not sure why but, I just woke up here and my roof is in the street again and I'm convinced that I love your music +++

Fan - Wednesday, October 8th, 2003 11:42 PM
This is to let Seela know that I'll try to be there for the Cafe Mundi gig even though I've missed so many of your gigs recently. This is also to say hi to Christina Peterson - the hyper gal who wanted to buy a vaio from me. If you are reading this, the offer is still on. Also, isn't Seela the common denominator? Seela rulez!!

jimbrent - Tuesday, September 23rd, 2003 10:03 PM
I got my CD's from CDBaby today. Just unwrapped Torch and gave it a spin. Wow. Seela...uh...I'm very impressed, to say the least. First came "Open Heart," now this. Keep it coming. I won't tell Kelly that the studio it was recorded in is named after a spider...she might retract her Diana Krall comparison.

jimbrent (identity crisis solved!) - Tuesday, September 16th, 2003 7:44 AM
I'm a slack- ass. Here it is September and I haven't purchased jack-squat from CD baby...so it's my fault if you don't get on the compilation CD. So, off I go to CD BAby now to add to my Seela collection plus get enough to add to my friends' collections whether they like it or not.

Danielle Williams` - Monday, September 1st, 2003 2:09 PM

Hi Seela,

I saw you at a little club in downtown Toronto, 1996 or 7 during the North by Northeast festival. I loved your performance and bought a cd from you that night. I just pulled it out of my old cd case that has been tucked away for years. I remember now how much I loved your songs and how meaningful they were to me at the time. Funny thing is, when I listen to them now, they are just as meaningful and special, but in a totally different way.

Thanks for the songs.

Kerry

When I saw your photos on your CD promotional material, I was in love. I was sad to find that you are happily married. Do you have a sister?
